Mario Medina named one of San Antonio's Best CFOsMario Medina named one of San Antonio's Best CFOsThe San Antonio Business Journal recently honored 11 local CFOs with a special section of the magazine and luncheon reception. Among the honorees was Mario Medina, director of business operations for the UTSA Institute for Economic Development. In this role, Medina oversees the Institute's nearly $12 million budget, the largest single contributor to UTSA's overall external funding. In the feature profile by writer Joel Williams, Medina says, "Our profit margin is based on the community benefitting from our services, the amount of people we serve." Besides managing the budgets and contractual oblications of the Institute's 12 diverse programs and centers, Medina is the treasurer of NCURA, the National Association of College and University Research Administrators. "We are proud of Mario Medina's financial stewardship to help guide our Institute for Economic Development as among the top performing university economic development units in the nation and contribute toward UTSA's Tier 1 aspirations in this significant way," said Robert McKinley, who directs the institute as UTSA's associate vice president for economic development.
