The San Antonio small business community represents a large and diverse industry population. Small businesses comprise 94% of the 26,842 employer firms located within the San Antonio MSA.

The San Antonio small business community represents a large and diverse industry population.  Small businesses comprise of 94% of the 26,842 employer firms located within the San Antonio MSA.  In addition, there are another 88,722 small businesses without employees in San Antonio.  Many of these provide the principle basis of financial support for their owner.

The character of the top five small business sectors is diverse as well. This group represents 54% of San Antonio’s small business community. Enterprises offering Professional, Scientific, and TechnicalServices total 12.45%. Health Care and Social Assistance providers follow at 11.7%. Retail Trade establishments comprise 11.3%. Construction firms make up 11% of this population. Accommodation and Foodservices companies complete this list at 7.4% of all San Antonio small businesses.
